Welcome to the Safe Mobility of Older Persons webpage.  We are a committee under the National Academies' Transportation Research Board (TRB).  We are an active group that meets annually to address relevant and pressing issues regarding safe mobility and older adults through research dissemination, action groups, and additional conferences or workshops.

This committee seeks to stimulate quality research and to support
implementation and evaluation activities that improve programs, policies,
and practices to help older persons remain safely and independently
mobile in their communities. The scope of committee interests may be
broadly defined by three topic areas: 1) Drive safely where you want, when
you want; 2) Reduced or restricted driving, including the transition from
driving to alternative transportation; and 3) Accessing community mobility
options by those who cannot or choose not to drive.

Much of the information gathered from this committee, as well as news from other organizations, can be accessed from this webpage.  I encourage you to browse the provided information and sign-up for our mailing list (via the 'News' link).  Thank you for visiting us and please consider looking at the subcommittees affiliated with our group under the 'Links' tab.
